What are my mail server settings?
Your e-mail is stored on servers running Google Apps software.
Since there are countless e-mail clients available, we're inclined to point you to this page on setting up a client using Google Apps, which will detail the correct servers to use:
Using IMAP: Configuring Clients with Google Apps IMAP Mail
Using POP: Configuring Clients with Google Apps POP Mail
We recommend using IMAP to interact with your mail, but if you choose POP you shouldn't have any problems either. POP is quite common, and there's a good chance your old e-mail was using POP. Here is an explanation of differences between POP and IMAP
Below are a few caveats to follow when following the guides above:
- If you're using IMAP or POP, you need to enable it first.
- Google Apps email addresses use the format 'username@yourdomain.com' rather than 'username@gmail.com.'
- The Gmail password reset flow doesn't apply to Google Apps accounts. If you forget your Google Apps password, please contact your IT admin for assistance.
- When setting up POP or IMAP access to your Google Apps mail account, make sure to enter your full email address whenever you're asked for your username or address. However, make sure to use the recommended servers, which include the domain 'gmail.com.'
- If you have a question about your Google Apps account, you can contact KSD Development for help.
- Other minor differences between Google Apps and Gmail are explained in the relevant help center entries.
